An Ordinary Monday

We had a rather ordinary Monday.  After a night at my parent's house for Sunday dinner, Milo usually sleeps in a bit.  Leo hasn't quite gotten that concept yet, but we're working on it.  We had breakfast and then I tried (unsuccessfully) to put Leo down for a nap.  Instead we headed to a mall to return some curtains and run around in the play space.  We picked up lunch and went home and ate it.  I tried again to put Leo down for a nap.  It was again rather unsuccessful and resulted in an afternoon of crying.  Milo occupied himself with Play Doh during the hysterics.  Then we put some clothes away and started dinner.  Things started to get dicey when Milo repeatedly tried to "help" Leo move from place to place.  By the time I found Milo tucking a ribbon into Leo's pants and trying to pull him up by the ribbon, I lost my patience    It was around 5 p.m. so I called Chris at work and told him it was time to come home.  We made it through dinner and I even threw some delicious cookies into the oven.  Baths and bed times and then a few moments alone at the end of the day.

So all in all a pretty ordinary day - times of fun and laughter with moments of stress and irritation; all wrapped up in the routines of a day.  These are the days we just get through, but don't remember them to be good or bad.  A day like today just is.

But for others the day took a different turn.  We were going to meet a friend for a play date, but she texted that her son had fallen again and couldn't move his left side.  She called the ambulance.  For her the day was not ordinary.  It was filled with doctors, hospitals and tests for her sweet little boy.  It hasn't been filled with answers, but it continues to be filled with thoughts of love and healing.
